ENSM, the French National Maritime School
Custom-made acoustics in harmony with the maritime world
Challenge
As part of the refurbishment of the French National Maritime School, ENSM, Arteck was asked to design an acoustic solution in perfect keeping with the identity of the site. The aim was to control the acoustics in a large, very open space bathed in light, while respecting the architectural and maritime codes of the site.

Solutions
- Integration of acoustic solutions that combine performance and aesthetics.
- Collaboration with the Terreneuve agency to design bespoke solutions.
- Use of decorative acoustic materials which respect the identity of the site while optimising sound quality.
We ensured that each acoustic element was perfectly adapted to the ENSM spaces, while respecting the architectural lines of the project. Each solution was designed to provide a functional response while enhancing the aesthetics of the building.
I think we can conclude from this that the panels are well suited to their purpose and that users are satisfied with them.
Results
- Optimised acoustics, guaranteeing comfort and efficiency throughout the spaces.
- Respect and enhancement of the site’s architectural identity.
The end result is a successful balance between acoustic performance and design, offering a quality sound experience without altering the visual harmony of the site. The ENSM school in Saint-Malo is now an example of the perfect integration of acoustic technology and architecture.
